X-men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse
Well this is number one. This game is probably the only game I’ve ever been arsed to complete thoroughly and unlock everything on. The X-men are my favourite super-team and this game was based on my favourite storyline (age of Apocalypse). It was like me taking part in my favourite comic saga and that pleased me to no end. The gameplay was fun and it had 4 player multiplayer. It had characters in it who people wouldnt really have known, like Sunfire. This meant that it was awesome and wasnt just a game to please the general public. I loved that game, man.

Duke Nukem 3D
If you were to ask what my childhood was like then this would be it. I never stopped playing this game when I was little. I can still remember now every room, every boss, how many aliens are in the next room and whether they’re pigs, octobrains or whatever. That’s pretty sad in retrospect but you have no idea how much I loved this game. My entire family loved this game. My mother used to nerdrage at some of the bosses. Family bonding. Mutual nerdrage.

L.A. Noire
This game is the hands down the best modern effort to make a game I’ve ever played. Its got forensic investigation, shoot outs, car chases, hilarious hand-to-hand fights where you try not to lose your hat. The story is amazing and actually interesting and its a game that never gets boring because it uses narrative hooks to keep you wanting to know what’s happening. Narrative hooks, properly used. IN A VIDEOGAME.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
Oh man this game. This fucking game right here, bro. This game just about forced me to actually think about what I did playing shooters. It was the first game that really got me into playing tactically and its the best third person shooter ever. Everything just worked and it was so damn hard if you didnt play it properly. The best shooter hands down. Its a shooter for people who like to use their brains.

Need for Speed Underground 2
The underground games always had the best soundtracks and the level of stuff you could do to you car’s appearance was amazing. The free roam feature was nice and the racing types were all really good and I never really played a better racing game since.

Final Fantasy 9
Everyone always gets a raging hard-on for 7 and 10 but 9 was my favourite and it always will be. I loved the cinematics because they were always humorous and child-like - even when something serious was happening. Zidane Tribal is my favourite Final Fantasy character of all time and the only character other than Onion Knight I’ll play as on Dissidia. Plus everyone on FF9 had MASSIVE HEADS.

Fallout 3
This came as a surprise to me because I hate the Elder Scrolls games with a passion. Because it’s first-person sword waggling is like a Pinata without the blindfold, Pinata, Mexican children or FUN. But anyway, Fallout 3 had GUNS and that’s what makes first person fun! The rpg elements weren’t too heavy and the map was expansive and there were so many hidden areas and weapons and stuff it was just a brilliant game.

Gears of War
This is probably one of my favourite shooter games hands down. Its mainly just senseless violence but the story is enough to still keep it interesting. The characters are awesome too which makes a nice change from the silent player-type in most shooters. Two words: Augustus Cole.

Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings
I probably wasted so much of my life on this game just on the map editor building giant battles and stuff. The campaign wasn’t too bad either. My favourite thing about it was probably the Regicide game type.

Batman Arkham Asylum
I dont really like DC comics at all and Batman never really interested me but I downloaded the demo before release because everyone was saying how good it was and it was brilliant. The full game was something out of the ordinary and it never really got boring.
